OLD vs NEW - THE EPIC BATTLE CONTINUES
We all love these right? Before and after, old and new ... well I just became an innocent victim of this epic battle once more. But I am happy because it gave me a source for another post so here it is. I was having a beer with some colleagues discussing today's meeting and other stuff but had to leave early to go to the grocery store to buy a couple of urgent necessities. Being a student occupied with his work most of the time there are things that slip from my mind like doing laundry every week so I usually realize it once I run out of socks or underwear. This was the case once more but this time I also had to buy some gel for the washing machine. So I enter the store and am lucky to find a container of the same type that I used so far so I pick it up and drive home to do the boring stuff. I get the basket of laundry and the old bottle since there is still some left there and go to the washing room. We have some washing machines there so I fill two of them (I told you it was a lot) and pour the old gel in the cap to dose it - perfect the exact amount. Then I open the new bottle and start pouring fluid in the cap and then I felt like I was struck by a usability lightning...
Did you get it? I will repeat my words :) Then I open the new bottle and start pouring fluid in the cap and then ... Still not? the new bottle and start pouring fluid in the cap... Come on! pouring fluid in the cap Somebody decided to make the new bottle opaque. So how do I know when I get the proper amount? I stop pouring and look from above. Well it's too little lets pour some more. Wow it almost started running out. Naaaaah too much let's pour some back in the bottle ... until I get it right. Well not that I care whether the amount is exactly on the line or not but I bet many of us will scratch their head a bit. Well here's what my engineering mind dictated: Pour what you have already in the new cap in the old one and then fill until it's enough
So here's what I do next. Put the new cap on the empty bottle and trow it away. Use the old cap with the new bottle ... and the day is saved once again.
I hope you enjoyed it :)
